Yes, a Goldair dehumidifier normally pauses and restarts on its own, and it beeps when the water tank is full. If it's louder than usual, check it's standing level and clean the air filter. Burning smells, sparks, grinding or loud rattling are not normal: stop using it.
This covers Goldair compressor dehumidifiers (such as GD390, GD415 and GPDH320) and desiccant dehumidifiers (such as GD350).
Normal sounds
- The compressor and fan stop and start on their own. When the room reaches your set humidity, the compressor stops and the fan stops about 3 minutes later. When the humidity rises, the fan restarts and the compressor restarts about 3 minutes after that.
- Beeping when the water tank is full. The dehumidifier stops until you empty the tank and put it back.
If it's louder than usual
- Make sure it's on a flat, stable surface and not tilted.
- Clean the air filter as shown in your user manual.
If a desiccant dehumidifier sounds its alarm
The alarm means it has detected a fault or got too hot, and it shuts down. Unplug it and let it cool before you try again. If the alarm keeps sounding, stop using it and chat with us.
Stop using it if
- you smell burning or see smoke or sparks;
- it makes a grinding, scraping or loud rattling noise that cleaning the filter doesn't fix;
- the plug, cord or casing is hot, melted or damaged.
If any of these happen:
- Switch it off at the wall and unplug it, if it's safe to do so.
- Don't use it again.
- Don't open it or try to repair it.
- Chat with us and tell us your model number.
